The obelisks, too. The Ptolemies, who ruled Egypt in the Hellenistic era, borrowed them to decorate their new capital city. Later, these millennial stones traveled to Rome, London and New York, where they are to find now. In modern times, marble and bronze statues are commissioned from Paris and Athens to adorn the squares of Alexandria.
