The subject of this documentary is the eventful history of Samos which, in ancient times, gained supremacy of the seas and became the \u201cfirst among all cities\u201d according to Herodotus\u2019 history. Samos of the great and wonderful works: the gigantic temple of Hera, the Heraion, the unique Aqueduct of Eupalinos with its \u201cdouble orifice tunnel\u201d, which belongs to the greatest technical works of antiquity, the city\u2019s magnificent port installations with the great pier, \u201cthe land in the sea\u201d, and the wonderfully preserved fortification walls. Samos, with its worthy sons who influenced the evolution of history and thought, the mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras, the astronomer Aristarchos, with his revolutionary theories on the earth\u2019s movement around the sun, which Galileo and Copernicus were to reassert centuries later.
