The gathering of large crowds paying their respects to the icon \u0391X\u0399\u039f\u039d \u0395S\u03a4\u0399 provides the opportunity for a young girl, an adolescent of the year 2000, who wishes to learn about events 1.000 years ago, to \u201center\u201d the black hole of time, through a computer\u2019s virtual reality. Moving from one \u201creality\u201d to the next, she travels from a \u201cconversation\u201d with king David to the city of Kiev to admire the mosaics which glorify Byzantium. By working her way through the icons she learns that \u201cthe angels speak Greek\u201d and suddenly \u201cfinds herself\u201d in St. Mark\u2019s Square in Venice, where she gazes in admiration at the horses, which once adorned the Hippodrome of Constantinople, and hurries to meet the emperor John Palaiologue on his way to Florence. With similar ease, she \u201cjoins\u201d the crowds welcoming Lord Byron at Messolonghi or \u201cvisits\u201d the Maiden of Athens on her balcony. Moving back and forth in time, she \u201csees, hears and learns at first hand\u201d of Greece\u2019s ceaseless voyage through the ages.<\/p>\n
