Francesco Alliata, more than eighty years old, prince of Villafranca and duke of Salaparuta, lives in Catania, and is the last of the \u201cPanaria film\u201d boys. His colleagues were the prince Pietro Moncada, Renzo Avanzo, Quintino Di Napoli and only for a period of time Fosco Maraini. Having a direct testimony by Francesco Alliata as well as photographs, documents and films from his archive, we are able to reconstruct that adventurous era, 50 years ago, when apart from all the leading steps (the birth of submarine filmmaking with the documentary \u201cCacciatori sottomarini\u201d, the first American and Italian co-production in the film \u201cVulcano\u201d by Dieterle, the first European film using Technicolor with the \u201cThe Golden Coach\u201d by Renoir, the first color submarine film with \u201cSesto Continente\u201d by F.
