Volcanoes are big mountains either on land or submerged into the sea. They are created in areas where the magma erupts on the surface of the earth and settles as surface tephra or concrete lava. In Santorini, the last of a series of big volcanic eruptions took place in 1630 B.C. An intense seismic activity had been recorded for several months before the eruption. At that time the island was inhabited by a rising society with a civilization comparable to that of Minoan Crete\u2026<\/p>\n
