The second and the fourth part of a series with this general title, which is about 10 Ancient Greek philosophers. The series, which includes dramatised scenes, tries to approach the subject by clarifying it, but without simplification. The \u201cI\u201d of the title, refers to the existential anxieties of each man regarding fundamental philosophical questions which had and still do preoccupy him, and to which the Greek philosophers first gave answers to. The first film deals with three pre-socratic philosophers: the rationalist Parmenides of Elea (540-480 B.C.), the sensitive Empedocles of Acragas (499-434 B.C.), whom Aristotle placed among the poets, and the \u201cfather\u201d of logic, who shook public opinion in the fifth century with the book of the paradoxes, the imaginative Zeno (490-430 B.C.). The second film is about Aristotle (384-322 B.C.), philosopher of the Hellenistic Period and student of Platon. Thanks to his \u201ccuriosity\u201d, we learn about the pre-socratic philosophers. And as a scientist and a philosopher, he played an important role in the development of European civilisation and laid the foundations for the Science of Reason. His work remains an encouraging testimony for the range of the human mind and provides comforting inspiration for those who desire to concentrate human knowledge into a comprehensible shape.<\/p>\n
