Using paintbox graphics and material specially shot on location, this sequence begins by placing the archaeological site of Troy in its geographical and topographical context. Using aerial shots, maps and site plans (derived from W. D\u00f6rpfeld\u2019s late nineteenth-century original), recognizable features on the site are identified \u2013 the massive curved walls at the site entrance, the stone built theatre, the large paved ramp and Schliemann\u2019s north\/ south excavation trench. These features serve to demonstrate the complexity of this site.
\nThe sequence develops into a \u2018detective story\u2019, a \u2018layer-by-layer\u2019 uncovering of the site with the presenters aiming to answer the questions \u201cwhat do we know about what has been found here?\u201d and \u201cwhat sort of site is it?\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
