The film, in various sites all over Europe (France, Greece, Poland, Belgium and Germany) presents how architects breathe new life into old buildings and their surroundings, respecting their history, the memories and the spirit of the workplaces.
It’s an international phenomenon and although each architect may have different ways of seeing things, the rehabilitation of industrial buildings has evolved through the years and it is connected to the relation between labour and culture.
Two major trends have emerged: on one hand the convertion of the site for commercial use (such as Pass in Belgium or Fabrika in Poland) and, on the other, its preservation, as an industrial site open to the public (such as Gazi in Athens or Ruhr in Germany).
