Saint Luke’s Monastery during the days of the Holy Week, the days of the great lament. Good Friday.
A mother amongst the women thinks back to her son who has gone off to war. She believes him to be lost. Suddenly, at the daybreak of Holy Saturday, he appears at the church gate with a wooden leg. His mother sees him and falls into his arms.
This small, symbolic arrival of springtime resurrects all of nature.

The film is based on the poem “In the Monastery of St. Luke” by Angelos Sikelianos.
