Butrinti is one of the tourist archaeological pearls of the Mediterranean. In this place there are found and preserved some of the most distinct values of an autochthonous, hellenistic, and roman civilisation up to early medieval times. The film “Butrinti”, a combination of fiction and documentary, brings on to focus quite originally the history, the wealth and the beauty of Butrinti. Travelling from one time to another, the film aims at reflecting the values of the main monuments of the town. The walk through the town and the story of the film starts with the legend of the arrival of Eneus the Trojan, inspired by “Eneus” of Virgil. It continues then with the Italian archaeologist Luigi Ugolini and his expedition of the 30’s up to the continuation of the excavations by the Albanian archaeologists.
