The team of the “Schliemanns Erben” programme of the German TV network ZDF obtained the exclusive rights to film the excavation of a Scythian tomb (kourgan) in the Democracy of Tuva in Central Asia. In discovering the kourgan of Tuva, the archaeologists revealed an untouched Scythian tomb east of the Urals for the fist time. In parallel with countless gold objects (9.300 gold artefacts were found just in the royal tomb) what excited the archaeologists, was the impressive artistic perfection of the goldsmiths who lived 2.500 years ago. Objects of unique beauty, which remained hidden from the world for 2.500 years, had been created by craftsmen belonging to a mysterious horse-riding people coming from the depths of the Siberian Steppe, which the Greeks called barbarians. This unique find is a priceless source of information for the origins of the Scythians, who set out from the central Asian Steppe and reached as far as the Black Sea.
