In 1973, the arts publishing hous “Union Latine d’editions” located in Paris, published in three volumes and enumerated copies with extra binding and exceptional style, the seven preserved tragedies of Sophocles. These volumes were decorated with 48 watercolour paintings by the famous greek painter-engraver George Varlamos, inspired by Sophocles’ text (approximately seven paintings for each tragedy).
This edition was then described in Paris, as one of the most important cultural events. These paintings were presented for the first time in Greece in an arts exhibition in the Folklore Museum of Kymi, the summer of 2007. In the films, the artist talks about his masterpiece and about his experiences in Art.
