After the Romans had conquered the whole mediterranean territories in the 2nd century B.C., a lot of money from the new provinces reached the tresors of the mighty people in Rome. Although there were laws against luxury of the private, there didn’t exist a reduction of the personal self presentation.
Mainly the region around the golf of Naples represents the luxury of this period. it was an ideal paradise for the holidays of the rich and important of Rome. There existed a coast with a lot of bella vista, a milde climate, thermal water and a soil on which grew a lot of plants and fruits. Who could afford it bought a ground for a palace with an enormous parc and a collection of pieces of art of high quality.
Even Emperor Tiberius had his palace on Capri with an lightning tower, a biblothek and a swimming pool. To the trendsetters of this period belonged as well the famous Lucullus who invented the real roman cooking and festivities.
