The film reveals the story of ancient cultures as well as the life of contemporary inhabitants of the Nile Valley, the area known as the birthplace of civilization. It is a fascinating journey along the Nile from Khartoum to Alexandria. An expedition into the depths of time, tracing the imprints left on history by legendary kingdoms and lost civilizations. In three episodes the films presents sensational archaeological discoveries including unique pictures of prehistoric monuments from around the 4th Cataract which, in 2009, will be lost under water due to the construction of the Merowe High Dam on the River Nile.

Part I. The History of Nubia, an ancient kingdom between the 1st and 6th Cataract on the Nile. The journey along the Nile begins in Khartoum, the capitol of Sudan, where the Blue Nile joins the White Nile. Khartoum is a place to learn about the spiritual and historical heritage of Sudan, the largest country in Africa.
In the area of the 4th Cataract where the Great Dam is built, archaeologists from the Museum in Gdansk, save priceless monuments of prehistoric cultures.
