Pireus, the Archaeological Museum and the history of the ancient city

A tour of the monuments of Piraeus is a unique stroll through the history of the city. The magnificent walls and gates, the monuments of the naval base of the classical era, already admired in antiquity, keep the memory of the athenian empire alive, while in the forms of the houses we can still recognise the spirit of Hippodamus, the father of town-planning, whose plan of Piraeus was a model of rationalism and democracy. The tour of the Archaeological Museum is like a mirror of the ancient city’s life.
