A testimony of how magnificently painted was once Greek architecture can be found in Plato’s writings. The inscriptions reveal that colorful painting was treasured as much as the sculptor’s work. However, the colors haven’t survived the passing of millenniums. Only a few signs are traceable in the pores of marble. Watching the film, we are guided to the famous historical sites of Greece: from Samos to the famous Athens cemetery, the Acropolis, Delphi, Aegina. The analyses of the traces of color not only help as reconstruct the ancient coloring, but also to discover the ancient significance of exquisite works of art.
