A city of fabled wealth, one of Antiquity’s leanding ports, home of the temple of Artemis –one of the Seven Wonders of the World–, Ephesus still stirs the imaginations of everyone interested in past civilizations. This documentary details the excavations being conducted at Ephesus, showing how up-to-the-minute high–tech equipment has revolutionized traditional archaeology. Working closely with the archaeologists, the filmmakers have taken the ancient city. With the help of the latest digital animation technology, they bring to life a city that witnessed such historical figures as Alexander the Great, King Croesus and Julius Caesar; a city in which St. Paul came to preach, Cleopatra ordered the murder of her own sister, and where the Virgin Mary is said to have died. “Ephesus” opens a window onto a fascinating chapter of ancient history.
