The film presents the arab-andalusian culture created by the arab dynasty of the Omeyads, which originated in Damascus in the 8th century. The Omeyads ruled over Al-Andalus, which extended over the greater part of the Iberian peninsula, until 1030. Such was the splendour of the emirate, and then the caliphate of the Omeyads, that it gave rise to a myth which is still alive throughout the Mediterranean.
