The film was made during Polish excavations in Saqqara, Egypt. The archaeological mission has worked at the location of the oldest pyramid, that of Djoser, under the supervision of Prof. Karol Myoliwiec. Surprisingly, during the first three weeks of excavation works, the mission succeeded in finding several dozens of ancient mummies. The most spectacular success of the mission, however, has been the discovery of the tomb of an unknown Egyptian priest named Ni-anch-Nefertum. He was pharaoh Teti’s secretary and priest of the two pyramids 4.500 years ago. This spectacular discovery one can compare to an earlier, similar Myoliwiec’ discovery: that of vizier Merefnebef’s tomb. Our camera records the entire progress of the enterprise, from the beginning of the excavation works until the moment when the name and capacity of the priest were read out aloud.
